Pelican Book Covers - Digging Up the Past 1956 Wooden Poster

Pelican Book Covers - Digging Up the Past 1956 Wooden Poster

Known for their classic pocketable paperbacks, Penguin and Pelican publishing companies also were behind some of the more era-defining book covers of the 60's and 70's. We decided to turn those covers into beautiful wooden posters.

Sir Charles Leonard Woolley was a British archaeologist best known for his excavations at Ur in Mesopotamia. He is considered to have been one of the first "modern" archaeologists, and was knighted in 1935 for his contributions to the discipline of archaeology.

This is a cover for his book "Digging Up the Past" that was published in 1956 by Pelican Books.
