Vulcan Gas Company Psychedelic Concert from 1968 Wooden Poster

Vulcan Gas Company Psychedelic Concert from 1968 Wooden Poster

The Vulcan Gas Company (usually called simply Vulcan) was the first successful psychedelic music venue in Austin, Texas. The Vulcan opened its doors at 316 Congress Avenue in the fall of 1967, and closed in the summer of 1970.

This is a poster for a Vulcan concert that was designed by Gilbert Shelton. Shelton was one of the first underground comix artists and was commissioned to do several poster for Vulcan Gas. This is a wonderful design that explodes with color!

The concert took place on 5/10-11/68 and featured artists Canned Heat, Conqueroo and Shiva's Head Band.

Printed on sturdy, durable wood that comes ready to hang.
